Push ups, spin, and quinoa

So, I had yesterday and today off from work, yay!! I spent yesterday getting all my Christmas shopping done and getting the tree up! Last year we were in a rental house that did not have much space for a tree so we had purchased a rather small 5ft artificial. It worked well last year. Now that we are in our own house, with much more space, the same tree looks rather inadequate. It will do for this year, it is just hubby and I, but next year I think we'll get a different tree. Since I had the day off, my trainer and I met a little later for our Wednesday strength training, so I was able to sleep in just a bit! We had a great workout, including some crazy push ups, I'll share the picture once she sends it over! Then as we were finishing up, she told me that if I was free this afternoon, she's going to a 4:30 spin class and I'm welcome to join her. At first I was a little iffy, I mean, this is my day off, I want to relax and play on the computer all day! hahaha I decided to text her this morning while I was waiting on my tires on my car to be rotated and balanced and told her to count me in! So, I'll be heading soon for workout # 2 today - spin class! Woo hoo!! Excited!! In the meanwhile, I'm re-coloring my hair as my roots were starting to show and waiting on my pudding to cool. I bought hubby some decaf black vanilla tea by Numi and on the box was a recipe for Black Vanilla Quinoa Pudding. I've been meaning to try Quinoa after a recommendation from my surgeon's office that it's a fabulous grain - high in protein and better tolerated by the band than rice. So, finally a reason to try it. It has raisins, walnuts, tea, apple juice, various spices and of course the quinoa in it. Smells good cooking, not sure how it will taste. going to have some before my spin class to see! :)

Weigh in today

Woo hoo!!! I'm down to 162 lbs! That's 80 lbs lost! I'm super excited to be at this point. I still have some ways to go, but I'm loving it. I need to remember next week to call my surgeon's office and get on his schedule for January/February time frame for my 1 year visit. So far I'm feeling good that my current fill might be my sweet spot, but I think I'll have them book me for my visit with him and for a fill at the same time, just in case. They always tell me it's okay if we don't end up doing the fill.

Better, better better

After getting over my cold and then the weird nausea issue, I'm better!!!! Worked out with my trainer on Monday - it was a heavy lifting day for legs and then on Wednesday another heavy lifting day, but this time upper body. We also did measurements! I had set a goal at the beginning of the month that I would hit 163 and I did, barely, but I did!! Yay!! For December my trainer and I will focus on cardio - specifically improving my running time. I did a baseline run today - 3 miles on the treadmill at 1% incline - I completed it in just under 45 minutes. Average speed 4.0 mph. I started off walking for my warm up at a 3, then 3.5, finished that mile off running at 4. Mile 2 I kicked up to 5.0, however only made it .8 of a mile before slowing back down and finishing that mile at 4. I stayed at 4.0 for almost all of mile 3 but the last quarter of a mile I kicked it up to 4.5 So happy, then I did some stretching and tomorrow is spin class. Super excited! It was a stressful day today but running this morning helped me keep it somewhat under control, I definitely feel better that I ran!

wrap up

Well, I think the visit with the in-laws and thanksgiving went well. My weight has not changed the last 2 weeks, however, I feel like I did well with my eating. I kept to my normal portions even on thanksgiving. It was an interesting experience explaining to the inlaws why I eat on a small plate and why I measure out my food and eat such small portions, no bread, pasta or rice. However, I think they took it rather well. Only weird this is I've felt sick to my stomach all day today. I don't know if its something I ate or stress or just getting sick, but ugh I feel awful! :( I'm keeping food and liquids down, so no worries there I just feel like crap. Oh well, we'll see what happens. back to work tomorrow after being off for the last week!

Stella and Dot

Last week I went to a Stella and Dot trunk show and purchased 2 beautiful bracelets and a gorgeous ring. One bracelet and the ring arrived today, the other bracelet is backordered, but I am so excited! They are a gorgeous rose gold. Lovely!!! My heater guys are on their way to install my new heater, yay! I'm so cold and it does not help that I am also sick. Go figure. I didn't work out this morning because of feeling sick, but hopefully I will get over this quickly. I did see my trainer earlier in the week so at least I have not been completely lazy in the working out department.

heaters and being sick

So, it would seem my husband and I are looking at replacing our furnace... fun fun. When we bought the house a few months ago we knew the heater was old, but didn't think much of it. As the weather has turned cold, we've been complaining that it does not feel like it heats efficiently. We finally decided to have a guy come out and look at it and he confirmed that we should replace it, but worse than that, it needs replaced ASAP as it is not safe to run. Blah.... So I've been spending the day calling around to try and get some quotes as the one they gave us seems outrageous and overpriced. On top of that, I feel like I'm getting sick... Minor sore throat, headache - ugh! I did manage to make it through my workout at the gym though, so that was nice. We'll see how I feel tomorrow if I go workout on Wednesday. In other news, I finally told the in-laws about my band. I had this done in February but have not seen them since then so we never told them. They seem supportive enough but you can still tell they are a little curious. Yesterday mom in law made chicken soup - she was very curious that I insisted i could not eat it. First off, it has noodles, I don't do noodles. Secondly, I still stick very strict to no liquids and solids at the same time. I explained on this to them. Then at dinner, we went to an expensive seafood place. Neither hubby nor myself eat seafood, so there was only a few options on the menu for us. I could not see ordering a $30 steak that came with a 6 oz piece of meat, a potato, veggies and a salad. I would end up leaving 3/4 of the food on the plate. So, hubby and I decided to share. the in-laws were a little shocked that we were going to share a plate. I diffused the situation quickly by pointing out that everything on the menu was just way too much food and I would be eating leftovers for days if I ordered anything and it just made more since for me to eat off hubby's plate. The server was very nice about it and had no problems with us sharing a plate. Sometimes when hubby and I go out I'll order my own plate and bring home leftovers as they make a nice breakfast or lunch for me at work, but this time around it just did not make sense. There was also nothing that sounded good to me on the appetizers menu or I would have done that. Oh well, sharing works and hubby does not mind.

Vicious Cycle

When I'm stressed, working out relives my stress. When I work out regularly, in the mornings, my stress levels all day are lower. However, why the heck is it so dang hard to make myself work out when I'm stressed? I know the positive reasons, I know I feel better, as a matter of fact, I usually feel great, but no but butt still stays in bed. Blah!!! For example, last week, my trainer and I were discussing that I need to get in 5 days of activity, ideally the two days of strength training with her, two additional days in the gym of cardio and then my one weekend day of outdoors cardio. So, no problem, I did my two days with her, check! Was majorly stressed though so ended up slacking the rest of the week, especially since my days with her were early in the week and then she was out of town. Booo... I did get some redemption of getting outside for cardio two days but still that means I only hit 4 days. Not bad, but not great. So, skip to this week - normally my trainer and I would meet on Monday, but she was still out of town. Knowing I was going to be stressed out on Monday, I slept in... Okay, so I got off work early, feeling guilty from sleeping in I took the dog for a walk in the evening. Normally, I walk the dog in the AM and hubby takes the PM shift. Okay, it was movement, not really cardio but something. So, I told myself, I have GOT TO wake up Tuesday and get my booty to the gym and get in my cardio day if I am going to hit my 5 days - Tuesday: Cardio, Wednesday: Strength with Trainer, Thursday : Strength with trainer, Friday:Spin, Saturday OR Sunday : hike... Sooo this morning, set my alarm to go to the gym.... woke up before the alarm went off, fed the dog, and changed the alarm and crawled back in to bed. WHY!?!?!?!?! I knew it was going to be another stressful day and I "deserved" to sleep in.. No excuses... Working out would have made me feel better. I did convince myself to redeem that mistake in the afternoon when I got off work early again. I did end up at the gym for some running and man, it felt GREAT!!! But I still just don't understand why it is when I'm stressed I have such difficulty making myself go work out when I know how good I will feel afterwards.... In other news - I'm down to 165 lbs, which is 77 lbs lost and I was able to fit in to a size 10 for my work pants!!

75 pounds GONE!!

I am officially down 75 pounds! Wow, since February! Spent some time this week in Colorado with my parents. First time they've seen me in 2 years and they were AMAZED at how much smaller I am now than I have ever been. This weekend coming up the inlaws will be here and they also have not seen me recently so that should be interesting. My parents handled my new eating habits okay - at first they were a little surprised with my little portions but they quickly figured it out. I was happy my fill level was perfect for giving me nice restriction and keeping me fill for hours. I traveled just fine with it, even at a protein bar on the plane because I was hungry! I might have ate a little too much left over Halloween candy though, but I'm proud to say there is none left in my house now so I won't be eating any more of it! I've been hooked on tacos and quesadillas lately. Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but they are delicious! I am hoping my current fill level will get me through the rest of this year, it seems to be a good level. Well, I need to get ready to take the dog to the park and do some shopping! My crockpot gets here Monday! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Candy, airplanes, family

So the Halloween candy has been dangerous ... I cannot yet be trusted with it in the house.  I did however still manage to get down to 168 lbs!! Yay!!
Took my first airplane trip since surgery. I drank lots of water specificly ice water. Had no trouble with my band so I was happy. I was worried about that but it all went well. Packed plenty of protein bars and shakes just incase. So now I'm in Denver visiting my parents. They have not seen me in about 2 years and this is the first time since surgery .. mom and dad are impressed with how much weight I have lost but I think its a little shocking for them to see how little I eat now. I wanted to get out today to try to workout but the snow has kept me in... ah well.

Restricted

Wow band is not being friendly today. I can eat but definitely can tell the restriction.  My yogurt made me uncomfortable this morning and now my salad... :( random tightness.

171

Well my first week at my new branch and in training have been great. my two days of fluids for my fill were a little tough, but hey they always are it seems. Back on foods - the first day I had my pumpkin yogurt for breakfast, a protein shake after working out, a latte, and then for lunch I stopped by taco time for a small cup of chicken chilli... I could barely eat it... I also caved an got some of their tater tots. Yup, I ate TWO tots and a couple of spoons of chili and was STUFFED. I had some more protein in the afternoon to supplement not eating as much and for dinner I made a pot of yummy beef and pork chili. Ummm. I thought I grabbed two cans of kidney beans but no, I didn't discover it until I dumped the black beans in that I was wrong! hahaha oh well, it turned out good anyway.
Today I had my pumpkin yogurt again, a chai tea latte, 4 flatbread crackers with 2 oz roasted chicken (deli) and some cream cheese, and jimmy johns unwich. Dinner will be more chili. the 4 flatbread crackers and meat stuffed me as did the jimmy johns, I'm kind of surprised I was able to eat it. I think this level of restriction feels okay so far. We'll see how it does as I move back to chicken and steak and such.

My back has been hurting pretty bad so my working out is a little off, but I'm hoping it's better after the weekend. Hubby wanted me to go hiking with him and the dog but my back hurts to much so I decided to stay home and rest and work on balancing the bank accounts. go figure, that's why I'm blogging instead! LOL

So the scale this morning (After breakfast) was 171. Tomorrow is my official weigh in day so I'm excited to see where I am!! I told hubby I want to go shopping this weekend!!

Another adjustment

Went in to see my doc since I've been getting hungry every 2 hours and eating crazy amounts of food! LOL it's not been too bad - i am down 4 pounds since my last visit a mere 4 weeks ago. That's good, she was very very happy with my progress. They gave me a .5 cc fill since the last one was only .25 and did nothing for me. we'll see how this one goes. i'm still sore my from workout yesterday with my trainer but tomorrow is a new day. Fluids today and tomorrow and then looking forward to the pot of chili I'll make on Friday. that seems to be my new tradition. I make a pot of chili after I have an adjustment. Go figure. I guess it's my comfort food that I know won't give me troubles. Well, hope everyone is doing well!

Pumpkin, Greek Yogurt, Cool Whip and teddy grahams...

Oh how I love thee! LOL

Okay, I've been hooked on greek yogurt with fresh peaches or pears and some sort of nut and honey or maple syrup for some time now. It's been my breakfast of choice, delicious I tell you! Delicious! And then, starbucks had to remind me that it's that season again for the pumpkin spice latte... Ahhh how I love the flavor of pumpkin, but not the calories in my latte! So.... I decided to try mixing pumpkin in my greek yogurt, OMG!! It's delicious with nuts OR with graham crackers (teddy grahams?) and topped with a bit of cool whip, I'd say it's a healthy pumpkin "pie." Delicious!!!

I'm alive and well

It has been waaaay too long since I posted. What has happened? We got settled in to the new house and then life went crazy at work. I was working 60 hour weeks, combine that with a 40 minute drive each way and trying to fit in at least 3- 1 hour workouts, I didn't have much time for anything other than coming home, having dinner and getting to bed.

I'm on vacation this week and then next week I start at my new job - same company, new position! Yay for the promotion I've been working hard to get!!

So excited!!! In the weight loss world - I'm at a plateau. Crazy hours and stress do not help and just when I thought I was going to be nicely in the green zone, nooooope. I need a fill... bad...... So I have an appointment to get one October 5th! yay!! Go me. I can make it until then, I know i can!!

Over all though I'm in the 170s so that's not bad. I got down to 172 then I've hovered between 172 and 175 i think. I've been avoiding the scale like it's the plague! LOL

Workouts are going well and I'm seeing a chiropractor that is just AWESOME!!! He's teamed up with my personal trainer so it's fantastic!

Well off to get some food. Breakfast was greek yogurt with a drizzle of maple syrup and topped with dried cherries and sliced almonds. Then I had a (gasp) Non-fat white chocolate mocha after my workout while I was grocery shopping. Time for some chicken and baked sweet potatoe fries!

38 minutes, 53 seconds

It's been a LOOONG time since I have blogged. Sorry all. I am still here, but with the move things were crazy for awhile. The computer was not hooked up for weeks so my only connection was my cell phone which is okay for some things but not great for blogging.
Any way. We are moved in to the new house, yay!! Still have a little unpacking to do like finish the office and my craft room, but other than that, it's just projects projects projects. Clean the gutters, stain the deck, etc.
I'm working on my promotion at work, yay, I've been invited to apply for the management training program. I'm currently an assistant manager working to become a branch manager, woo hoo!! So within the next week I should get the official I'm in word! yay!!! Fingers crossed!!!
Now on to the great news - I ran my first 5k in over 2 years. Last 5 k I ran was before hubby and I moved to WA. I rocked it! I set a goal of finishing in less than 40 minutes and I did!! 38 minutes, 53 seconds! Heck yeah!!! Although, hubby was a little concerned, my HR monitor shows me hitting max heart rate... he didn't like that, but it was at the end when I gave it the last finish strong push. I'm feeling pretty good. it was hard to figure out how to balance eating and drinking this morning in prep for the run and after the run. I still do not drink liquids 30 minutes before or after a meal as my DR suggested so I woke up so that I had 15 minutes to drink liquids, wait 30, eat a high protein breakfast and then I waited 30 more before drinking more protein and letting that settle before the run. They only had one water stop so when I finished the run I drank more water and ended up drinking some juice and tea as I didn't bring any protein shakes with me for after. Then after feeling hydrated, I was 30 minutes and hubby and I went out to lunch. Overall it was a great run and day, but it took more careful planning than it did before surgery. So happy I did this!!! I have run two 5ks in the past, one in October 2008 and finished somewhere around 38 minutes and then in May 2009 was my last one finished in 33 minutes, so that's why I figured on less than 40 for this one!

Almost

I am almost all the way moved in! Well, okay, let me rephrase that - I am moved in. I'm almost unpacked! Yay!!!

Scale says 179! I am super excited. My trainer is happy too! Ohh and I started going to a chiropractor! He's AWESOME!!!!!

Make the pain go away!!

Happy Sunday everyone!! So, painting at the new house is almost done- just a few touch up spots left. The new floors are almost finished being installed and then I'll have my friend's husband come out and install my baseboards for us. Yay!!
The poor dog is stressing out - I don't think she likes this and we have not yet even started packing. The fence guy will be out this week and movers to give me an estimate. We were going to move everything but the heavy stuff by ourselves, but we have decided we will do the packing and let someone else do the lifting! yay!!!

I am also thinking of hiring someone to do the move out cleaning for me so I don't have to deal with it.

So as for the title of my post - the pain.. please make it go away. On Monday I started having a weird pain right above my pelvic bone on my left side. first it hurt but I didn't think anything of it, until the pain started hurting a lot more. then i started to freak because that is the side my port is on but my port is much higher. then on wednesday I thought the pain was getting better. Thursday proved me wrong as it was much worse. everytime I took a step it hurt!! when I was sitting though I was fine. So, decided to go to my primary care doc. she did an exam and came to the conclusion that I'm not pregnant, LOL, and that it is not a bladder/kidney infection. She sent me for blood work and will call me on Monday with those results. She thinks I either pulled some random, deep ab muscle or it's an ovarian cyst. Booo!

So, weight dropped to 184!! yay!!! I know I would do better if I didn't let the stress get to me! I have not been doing horrible, but I have not been packing my lunch or snacks either, so that makes huge difference! I will try to do better this week!!

Monday, July 4, 2011

Woah, cut back on the stress!!

Happy 4th of July everyone!! So, I'm still around, but posting infrequently. Spent the past few days at the new house painting. I'm super excited and ready to get moved in, but we are still waiting on the floors to be installed. Go figure!

I'm sitting 186. Minor stall - been there about a week now.. :( I think it is all the stress, hopefully soon that keeps moving downward.

Measurements with my trainer today before our workout and then back to painting after my workout!

Spin shoes, HR monitor, house

Woo hoo!!! I stepped on my scale this morning and it read 187. I then grabbed my dog and stepped back on the scale and it read 242. This means I've lost 55 pounds or the equivalent of MY DOG!!! YAY!!! So, hubby and I had a deal and I got to buy my spin shoes! Heck yeah!!!

Then, we were shopping at Costco and he sees a HR monitor that he bought me. I am normally a Polar girl, but this is a New Balance HRM. We'll see if I like it, I hope I do!

And last week we signed the paperwork and get the keys to our new house on TUESDAY!! Yay!!!!!!!!!

Protein

Wow, what a crazy week it has been. It really took a toll on me and I have realized I have not been getting enough protein. Despite eating protein first and at every meal, I'm getting the amount my nutritionist wants me to get but it is not enough. I'm losing muscle and hair!! Yikes! So, post in the comments what protein shakes you like best! I need ideas!! Thanks!!!

On another note - the stress of work and getting ready to buy our first house is getting to me and I've been a grumpy wife to my husband lately and a little on the sad side. I didn't want to do anything this weekend. I just wanted ME time... I got some, so it's a little better but I did totally break down and cry at one point.

Weight this morning - 189

fill

Had another fill yestrday - .5 ccs, so that brings me to a total of 6.5 in my band.

my doctor is very impressed with my success so far!!! I'll post stats later but just wanted a quick post about the fill.

191 and allergies

So first the awesome news- the scale weighed in at 191 this morning!!! yay!! that's 51 lbs GONE!!!! Wooohoo!!

Hubby and I took our dog to the park today - serious allergy season has started for me I think because almost immediately I felt awful! I still do. Someone needs to turn off the faucet that is my nose! and the sneezing, my goodness!! The itchy, watery eyes. blah. Plus I think I got a sunburn so i feel warm too. ugh!! let's just hope it's only allergies. I dug out my claritin reditabs and we shall see.

Tuesday is my next fill so i really do not want to be getting sick....

I'm here

Hello everyone! Things have been crazy around here so I have not has as much time to blog as I would like. I'm working quite a bit between two branches. Hubby and I have lost all track of time now that the process is started for buying the house. Our offer was accepted, we are moving along quite nicely on the process and will close in June! then we'll have to start work - new floors, a fence, ceiling fans, the closets need some work. And of course, packing!! Oh my gosh how I HATE moving!!

Weight loss is going soooo slooooow... I guess this is norming for being 3-4 months out. I'm not yet at my sweet spot. i can tell my current fill helps keep me from getting hungry between meals, but I can eat anything I want. Although, I have avoided eating most breads and all pasta and rice. That's a plus. I went a little overboard at happy hour the other day - it's been my first real social event. I've gone out with hubby or with a friend, but not a group since surgery until of course Saturday. I ordered the guacamole at Cheescake factory.. I was not real hungry and I didn't want anything that could cause issues, so I stuck with something "safe"... hahaha not so safe, I ate WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY tooo much and then followed with a banana creme cheesecake slice.. To die for! So good. I did not finish it all though - i stopped like a good girl. And then tried to feed it to the others! hahahahaha

I'm getting really bored with breakfasts though. What do you guys eat typically for breakfast? For awhile I was doing really well with scrambled eggs or hardboiled eggs, but that got BORING. SO I switched to Peanut Butter on graham crackers. Not very healthy though, but I need something fast. I'm up at 4:30 to walk the dog, by 5:15 or 5:30 I'm eating breakfast and by 6 I'm at the gym for an hour workout. I don't do well with anything heavy before working out and protein shakes don't sit well with me before a workout either.

I've thought about yogurt with fruit and granola, but that's normally my post workout snack... Although, I may switch it to breakfast and just do a protein bar for post workout. I've also been enjoying the lunchables cracker combos - the more adult version of a lunchable I guess. It comes with flatbread crackers, chicken or turkey and cream cheese spread. All around 270 calories. for the turkey or chicken. There's another one with roast beef and ham, regular cheese and crackers that's around 360 cals I think. They are pretty nice for a grab and go snack and it keeps me full for so long!

Anyone have any GREAT breakfast ideas though? I also eat leftovers for breakfast sometimes, so I'm not opposed to foods that are not normally "breakfast."

Tuesday, May 24, 2011

194

The scale sure is moving slow.... :( I go back for fill #3 on June 7th, so maybe that will help. I've noticed I don't get particularly hungry between meals, but 1/2c just does not fill me up like the doc wants it to... last night i ate closer to 1 c of chili and then a slice of chocolate ganache. YUM. Hit my calories for the day though, so that was really good! yay!

I'm helping at work at another location, so my drive is a further away than normal, but I get off an hour earlier, so it is kind of nice, but it sure makes me tired! All the stress of that and buying a house. whhew.

I did however find a calcium supplement I like!! Vitafusion calcium is delicious! My doc really wants me to take calcium citrate, but the supplements i tried, I did not really like, so i figured as long as I am taking something, it is a lot better than not taking the one he wants me to take!

Thats all for now. I have a very long day ahead of me. see you later!

What a week!

Well this week is turning out to be an interesting one!

First off, over the weekend, I worked part of Saturday and then hubby and I went house hunting again. Found another ADORABLE house! We're making an offer! yay!! But, the best part of Saturday was after a day of work and then house hunting, hubby and I decided to go to a little hike/walk. We used to go do this exact hike/walk maybe twice a month last spring/summer. I ALWAYS complained. I hated it, I would find every reason to not want to go, but in the end I always went. It's a beautiful place, but just so dang tough on my lungs! ugh!! So, we went this past weekend. It was tough, but all of a sudden just when I was pointing out to hubbs that this hike is always tough on his legs but he can breathe and my legs can handle the hike, but my poor lungs are on fire I realized HELLO, we were at the top of the hill and done. Well, that was amazing. I felt so proud. Sure, it was tough, my lungs burned a little, but I thought we still had one more turn and big hill to go! That was a fantastic feeling.

So, made an offer on another house, because the first house we did an offer on was rejected. Boohoo!

And this week at work, I found out some exciting news. I'm going to another branch to help them out! I'm working on getting promoted and this will be a great opportunity for me. My husband calls it a promotion project! Woot Woot!!! :) :) :)

On the band front - I'm doing fine with fill #2. I can already tell though that I will need fill #3 in June. I have my restriction - some days I don't even feel hungry and my 1/2 c serving for sure fills me up, but I'm still noticing that I'm not always as careful as I should be and I'm not always taking my time. No major issues with that yet, (thank goodness, I really don't want to PB) however I'm worried that I am not being careful enough! So, gotta work on that! Went out to dinner last night and had an awesome chicken marsala, it was even better this morning reheated for breakfast! hahahahahah

I skipped my workouts both Monday and Tuesday, but i was at the gym today and will be back there tomorrow, friday and saturday. Go me! :)

I get to join the ranks of many of you other fantastic bandsters in ONDERlAND!!! I stepped on the scale and it said 199!!!! About 15 minutes later I stepped on again to show off to hubby and it said 198.. LOL I'll take it either way! Yay!!! I'm officially less than 200 lbs!! So happy!!

Still alive

I'm still here and still at 200lbs.... The scale is not moving. I know it is well past time for fill #2. Thank goodness it is Tuesday!! Yay!!
Worked an extra day at a different branch this week so I ended up with 6 days of work. Ugh! only day off is tomorrow. We also still have not heard anything on the house we put in an offer on. All I can think is good things come to those who wait. Hopefully we get the house, it's awesome!! My eating has been okay, but not great. I did get 5 workouts in this week though! Monday, Wednesday and Thursday were strength training with my trainer, she's awesome! Tuesday I jogged on the treadmill and Friday was Spin!! Once I hit 180 lbs (an equivalent loss of the weight of my dog about 60 lbs!) hubby says I can buy cycling shoes for spin class if I would like!!! Exciting! I'm also finding all kinds of my clothes are waaaaaaaaaaaaay too big now and pulling out the smaller items from the closet is showing me they fit now!! Woohooo!! Soon I will need to go shopping for stuff that fits again!

Standstill

Okay, I know this happens, but still it is frustrating! I've lost 1 pound in the las 2 weeks. Goodthing I have a fill scheduled for May 2nd, but still, it's hard to wait that long.
In other news, we put an offer in on a house! They have multiple offers, so fingers crossed we get good news today or tomorrow!!
Saturday hubby and I headed out of town for the night to go check out the Tulip Festival! So pretty!! It was my first overnight trip somewhere since surgery. I packed like 4 water bottles and some Peanut Butter and graham crackers just in case, but had no issues finding good food. We had dinner at Outback Steakhouse and they let me order of the kid's menu, so I had the kid's grilled chicken with mashed potatoes. I couldn't even eat it all. In the morning we had the hotel breakfast - they have cheese omelets, so I had that with half a slice of wheat toast. Then we had lunch at a Mexican restaurant - we ordered a chicken quesadilla with rice and beans on the side. I ate 1 slice of the quesadilla and the beans. The only bad part was the chips and salsa... I was mindlessly eating those. Ugh!!! I should know better!
So last week I did my 3 strength training sessions with the trainer, plus spin class. The goal this week is my 3 sessions with the trainer, 1 day of running, and 1 spin class. I can do it, I did it the week before last, so I can do it again even though right this minute I would rather still be sleeping......

Sorry all that I have not blogged much lately. Its been super busy this week. I have the weekend off though so I'll be able yo blog and catch up on everyone's also. Off to spin class in a few!

A day in my life...

Well, I like to follow the leader too, so I'll post what my typical day looks like. I'll admit though that I'm still trying very hard to get my vitamins in regularly.

Breakfast - 1 hardboiled egg and 1/2 bananna.
snack - chobani champions yogurt (yes. this is the kids one!)
lunch - 2 oz ground beef, 1/4 c refried beans
snack - 1/4 c cottage cheese, 1/4 c diced pears
dinner - 1/2 c beef stew or 2 oz chicken with 1/4 c potatoes and a couple bites veggies.

Lots of water and the occasional glass of apple juice or a nonfat latte.

Remember, I am only 2 months out from surgery and have not yet tried rice, pasta, or breads!

It's my day off!!

As much as I love my days off, I sometimes hate them too. Why? Because I'm hungry! LOL I don't get that hungry at work because I'm busy and such, but at home, having a nice relaxing day, all I can think about is the food in the house! So not fair really. I slept in this morning, yay! Then I went to work out with my trainer. She kicked my butt, but it was a great legs workout! GO me! Then tomorrow we'll meet again and then on Friday she's doing a spin class with me! I love it, she is awesome and encouraging!!! What else today though. I've been playing on my Wii. My Glee Karaoke 2 came in last night and I've been singing today! I love it. Then I gotta go get hubby from work and drop him off at his doctor's appointment, then come back this way to take the dog to the vet for her shots, then go back pick up hubby and drop him back at work, drop the dog at home and go meet up with the real estate agent. Busy day, maybe by then I'll stop being hungry, but sitting around singing and playing on the computer, I'm starving! ugh! It's almost lunch time!! yay!!!!

Whhhew what a day!

Today was a long day.  Hubby and I got up and I made a delish frittata for breakfast - shallots, mushrooms, and canadian bacon!   I ate a small slice and had some diced peaches.  Hubby had pancakes and then off to starbucks to meet the real estate agent.  I had a tea latte.   We drove around and saw a few houses, stopped for a bathroom break and I grabbed a banana.  We looked at some more houses and then headed home to pick u the dog and take her to the park.  After that we ran to the store to grab groceries and I realized I had not had any protein at my snack earlier.  I was starting to feel hungry but couldn't think of what to get so I grabbed a low fat chocolate milk. yum!!   Came home to unload groceries and wash the laundry and the dog! LOL  Now waiting for dinner, but I've realized I have not really ate much today.   I feel okay, but honestly, I am sure my body would be happier with more food. oh well, dinner will be nice and tomorrow I have my meals all planned out again!  yay!!!

203

After sitting at 205 for the entire week, WTH?  I'm at 203 this morning!  I'll take it!

Much needed day off

After 2 weeks of working 8-7:30 mon - fri and 8-430 on Saturdays, I had today off.  It has been so great to lounge around doing mostly nothing.  The dog woke me up at 4 am though.  Ugh!  It's our normal wake up time and she decided I should wake up that early and feed her even if I was off.  Went back to sleep until about 7 then I got up to play on the computer for a bit and had a delicious frittata for breakfast.  it's leftover from the one I made on sunday.  not the best reheated item, but it's okay.  Then I had to take hubby to get his appointment and then I dropped him at work and the car at the mechanic.  While the mechanic had my car, I walked over to the gym for a workout!  Woo hoo!!  I did 30 minutes on my own, walking for 4 minutes and jogging for 1.  it was a nice interval, but I think next time I'll do 3 minutes walk, 2 jog.  I'm still doing a slow jog as not to overdo it yet, but I handled it well I think.  After that, I headed home on the bus to change out of my workout clothes and headed back to hubby's work to have lunch with him.  Their cafeteria is very nice, although I was a bit worried if they would have anything for me to eat.  I had a delicious grilled chicken breast, some potatoes, a bite or two of roasted beats and a small bit of avocado on my chicken.  it was yummy!  Then I headed back home and caught up on my Glee episodes I've missed the past 2 weeks!  I LOOOOVE GLEE!  :)  Now I just have to wait for hubby to pick the car up from the mechanic and we are making some chicken thighs for dinner!  Yuuum!!  What a nice relaxing day and I needed it!  Tomorrow, thursday and Friday I work the 8-730 shifts again.  booo but at least I'm off this Saturday so I'll have a real weekend!  yay!!!

Yay!!!   Had my first fill yesterday!  I was nervous.  Way more than I needed to be.  All went well.  Yay!  I have 5 ccs in my band now.

First Fill... Coming soon.

My first fill is Monday!!   Just a few more days away.  I think it's time as I have been getting hungry in between meals.  Not so hungry that I have to eat, but enough that it's bothersome.  Super excited to see how it goes.  In other news, I'm crazy busy at work.  I am working 830am - 730 pm.  Figure in a 40 min commute each way.  Monday I worked out with my trainer, Wednesday I did cardio and tomorrow I meet with the trainer again.  I'm ready for Sunday so i can sleep in!!

30 lbs down!

Wahoo!!!   The scale greeted me this morning at 212!!!  This means I have hit the 30 lb mark.  30 lbs since January 24th.  I am so very happy.  It is a busy and crazy week for me at work but food has been okay.  Will write more later!!

Been Busy

Sorry I have not been blogging or commenting much.  My work schedule is kind of hectic, leaving me not much down time.  The past week have gone well.  I started back at the gym working out with my trainer!  So far, so good.  Still can't lift much or do abs workouts cause the doctor told me to avoid that for 6 weeks.  I see him a week from tomorrow for my first fill, so I will check with him again and see where I am for adding more back in to my work outs.  As far as seeing him for my first fill, I'm excited for that.  I'm doing okay with eating.  I can easily eat my 6  meals a day of 1/2 c each meal.  I do get hungry between sometimes, but nothing to terribly hard.  I'm not snacking or anything else in between, so we're okay on that.  This past week I only lost 1 lb...  :(  that made me sad, but realistically, I know that's what happens at this point.  I'm 32 days out from surgery, so hopefully my fill will help.
I'm terribly bored with chicken and beans for lunch, so I'm doing taco seasoned ground beef and refried beans for lunch this week to switch things up a little and ooooh I'm going to try beef stew tonight.  I was told to stick with ground meats, chicken and pork until I was comfy enough to try adding others in.  I think since the meat will me so moist and tender it should be okay.  Fingers crossed!!
In other news, hubby and I are looking at houses!  yay!!  We got pre-approved today and going to reach out to the Realtor and see what we can find!

Gotta be prepared

So I had to go in to work for a couple of hours this morning and then I was dropping my car off at the mechanic because the check engine light has been on.  I was smart enough to take some snacks with me, but ummm yeah I have not gotten the hang of being prepared yet and didn't think about lunch.  So sitting at the mechanic and decided I was hungry!!  Finally found out my car won't be fixed today, stupid fuel pump.  So walked from the mechanic's to the bus stop to get home.  Realized I was really really hungry and may not make it home without starving... ;)  So ran into Wendy's for a bite to eat.  What oh what can I eat?  I'm 28 days out from surgery and trying very hard to stick with my eating plan.  Aha moment, CHILI!  okay, so their chili was not the best, I make better chili, but in a pinch it worked.  at least I was not so hungry that I picked the wrong things, although, I think I was so hungry I ate a little too fast because it gave me some indigestion!   :(   Next time, I gotta remember to be better prepared!

215

Well, I've joined the Spring Challenge over on ChasingSkinny's blog!!  Today was the first official weigh in and my scale showed me a 215!!

Tomorrow, I see my personal trainer.  I have not seen her since before surgery, so I'm super excited to see her again and to start working out again!!  Yay!!

The past week has been busy for me at work hence the lack of updates, but food wise, I'm doing okay!  I'm still pretty much eating the exact same thing every day, but I did add some triscuts and laughing cow cheese as a snack.  Also found some delicious chocolate covered banana slices at trader joes...  this could be a bad thing...  someone take them away!!  No really though they are good, but I don't have time to eat them so I'll be okay.  once in awhile though they work as a sweet treat.

Tonight for dinner it's meatballs...  Don't know what I'll have on the side yet since I'm not supposed to do pasta yet..  Maybe mashed potatoes.  But I made mashed sweet potatoes last night.  ugh!  I don't know!
Gotta cook my chicken for lunch too.  it's marinating right now.  Then i gotta get my gym back and lunch ready for the morning.  my workout session is 6 am!!

Ahhhh I must say at this point, only 25 days or so after surgery, I'm very happy and thankful for my band and I know still that this is the best decision I could have made!  Yay!!!!!!!

back to work

Well its my first day back to work since surgery. Everyone is full of questions. I'm doing okay with food so far. I had an egg and half a banana for breakfast. A quarter of a cup cottage cheese with a quarter cup diced pears for a snack. 2 oz chicken and a quarter cup of beans for lunch. Afternoon snack is half a cup of Cheerios. Yum! Dinner will be 2 oz ground beef Patty with mushroom gravy and a quarter cup potatoes with a tablespoon green beans!

Dog park and house hunting

So, dinner yesterday was yummy.  I took some chicken breasts and a jar of salsa and cooked them until I could easily shred the meat with 2 forks.  Hubby made his into tacos and I ate just the meat as is with some beans.  I can have "toast" but I was not sure yet about tortillas, so I decided to hold off....  Anyone have experience with tortillas?  Are corn tortillas better tolerated?  For now I'll avoid since it is so soon, but in the future I'll want one eventually!
So today we took Tippie to the dog park and of course it rained while we were there, of well, she had fun anyway.  I made sure to take a snack with me so I could have it because I knew we were going to drive and look at some houses, which we did.  Found a new neighborhood that looks nice, but maybe a little pricey especially since it would mean having to buy a 2nd car.  We'll see, we just started looking.  We spent a little too much time out and I started getting hungry again.  So we stopped at our fave Greek place.  I was looking at the menu and couldnt figure out what would be safe to eat that didn't have a ton of fresh veggies which are off limits right now or rice and pita, so finally, it dawned on me!  Hello!  They have lentil soup!  I know soups are not the best for us since they go right through, but with the cold and rain outside and no other easy choice that's what I got!  I don't know how much I ate, but it was delicious and I brought home left overs!  YUM!  Still trying to figure out dinner.  I'm using yesterday's leftovers for lunches at work, so I took out some ground beef.  Hubby was going to grill it into hamburger patties but the weather isn't going to allow that.  I'm thinking meatballs maybe, but I can't have pasta yet so not sure what I'll do with them.

Wow, what a difference

Okay, so I took a chance last night and decided to give in and let hubby go out to dinner cause he has not been out in a long time.  So we picked a steak house that we love going to that is a bit on the pricey side. I scoped out the menu online though so make sure I'd easily be able to get something I could tolerate as this was my first meal with solid foods and not mushies.

The most amazing this happened at dinner that made me feel WONDERFUL..  Let's start with background - the FIRST time hubby and I went to this place BEFORE my band - they brought us a free shrimp cocktail appetizer.  Hubby does not eat shrimp and I normally only eat it fried...  Not a big seafood fan, but none the less, I ate the entire shrimp cocktail, my salad, some bread, my steak, baked potato, mushrooms, and veggies.

Looking back, I don't know how in the heck I ate all that, but again, that was before band.  So fast forward to last night.  I was a little worried since this was my first solid meal and I'm worried about getting stuck, especially trying out a new food.  So after some thought on if I should order a chicken dish and get a to go box for left overs or an app and share some of hubbies potatoes and veggies, I decided on the shrimp cocktail!
I ate 2 shrimp, a tablespoon or so of mashed potatoes, and 2 bites of the veggies.......  Yup.  I was satisfied. I stopped when I didn't feel hungry any more and I stretched all that out to last with how long it took hubby to eat his prime rib and potatoes!
After that I just couldn't believe how I went from eating everything to eating such a small portion.  It felt GREAT!!!   :)

Banana and BYOC

Hello all!!   I saw my nutritionist today!  and when I got home I had lunch.  1 Scrambled egg and ............. wait for it, 1/2 a banana!!!!! I was so happy to be able to have bananas again!  So, I'm starting soft solids now.  I'm excited!  I have my plan set up so I can get the right amount of protein and still have some flexibility, but for now I'll be eating mostly the same stuff for my meals every day with the exception of dinners, but at least it will make it easier for meal planning.   Funny thing is though, poor hubby has not been out to dinner since I started the pre-op diet, so now he's begging to go out since I can eat some foods. Not sure how I feel about going out so soon, but I am happy so add some real foods and not just mushies into my diet!

1. Are you a heavy or light sleeper?
It depends.  Fairly heavy I guess, I cannot hear when my husband gets up and moves around, but sure enough come morning my dog gets me up easily enough when she wants breakfast...
2. If you were made into a professor for a day, what topic would you lecture on?
English Literature!!  I love reading and would love to share that passion with others!
3. What’s a skill you’ve always wanted that you don’t currently have?
To FLUENTLY speak a 2nd language.  I studied Spanish all through highschool and college and still cannot speak it....

4. Have you ever been in a real cat fight?
No...
5. Repeat question: Summarize your week in real life and in blog land.
It's been a boring week of sitting around the house watching TV, playing on the computer, healing from surgery, eating my mushies and drinking lots of water.
In blog land I've been discovering all of your great blogs out there to help me on this new journey!!

Allergic Reaction

Fun stuff.  So I've been very itchy on my right side.  It's just kind of a splotchy looking rash.  It seems to be okay one day and the next really itchy.  So this morning I gave it and just decided to call my primary care doc to see if she could squeeze me in today.  Sure enough they said c'mon in, we got space.  So I headed over there.  I have not seen her since my annual physical in early January.  She was quite impressed with my weight loss already and was curious when I had the surgery, so we talked about that, she was very happy.  Anyway, it seems I am having an allergic reaction to something, but what we don't know.  She gave me a cream to rub on it and told me if I needed to take benadryl I could look for Children's Liquid bendryl so I wouldn't have to worry about crushing the pills.  So we'll see how I do with the the cream, but I would have never thought of using a children's version of something to get it in liquid!

Day 13 Post Op

Well hello everyone!  Doing good here.  The soreness on my left side appears to be almost gone, yay!  Still there when I move certain ways, but it's nice not to feel it all the time.    I'm still on mushies, but doing okay with that.  At least mushies include scrambled eggs or hardboiled eggs chopped up really well, refried beans, applesauce, etc...  So I'm happy.  Friday I see my nutritionist and I'll get to start soft solids.  I'll admit, I'm a little bit afraid of starting soft solids, I'm afraid of getting stuck, but I know, slow down and really chew!  :)
I need to go this week and get my hair cut and colored because I go back to work on Monday!  It's crazy, 2 1/2 weeks off I feel like I've missed so much!  I get back and 2 days later, I have to start training my newest employee.  then the following week another new employee starts.   At least I get a little bit of time in between the two.  That's kind of nice.  But then again, shortly after that, my boss goes on her 2 week vacation leaving me working all the hours.  There's only 2 managers, me and her.  There always has to be one of us there.  So when I'm gone like now, she's working open to close m-saturday and I'll have to do the same while she's gone.  I've done it before, it's not that bad, but it can be tiring.
I'm down to 220 lbs!  Yay!!  I'm also looking forward to starting back up with my trainer!  I have not seen her since the Monday before my surgery and I miss her!  She's awesome.  I'll start back up with her soon!  The doctor has cleared me to increase cardio but that's it so far.  Well, off to enjoy my last couple of days of having the house to my self all day and being off work.  Hubby is off Friday, Saturday, Sunday this week, so I gotta enjoy my peace and quiet while I got it!  :)

Is is too much to ask?

So, hubby and I went grocery shopping today.  Ugh!  I swear, I don't think it is too much to ask for him to not buy and keep soda in the house. He does not do this often, maybe once every couple of months, but still, I can't have it and I don't really want it in the house.... I'm not saying he can't have it.  He can have it when we go out to eat or even buy it and take it to work, but having it in the house is tempting fate. I know I can't have it, but why tempt it!

Anyway, in other news, we took the dog to the park again, that was nice!  She loves the dog park!! Now, she's resting next to me on the couch, the sweetie that she is!  After that hubby was hungry, so I told him, he had to pick somewhere that has either mashed potatoes, cream soup or refried beans so I'd be able to eat something.  (I did have some applesauce in the car just in case cause I knew we'd be out for awhile.)  So, we went to one of our normal lunch spots, a nice little mexican restaurant.  Hubby ordered some enchiladas and instead of his black beans that it came with, he asked them to swap it out with refried beans and put them on the side, so that's what I ate.  They served it on this oval side plate, so I had no clue how much was there, but I ate about 1/3 of it.  I ate slow and listened to my body for when I didn't feel hungry anymore.  I think I did okay.

Day 9 - Post Op

Well, today I have my appointment with my surgeon to follow up.  I told him about the tenderness and soreness I'm having on my left side, he confirmed, it's from the port, and is mostly normal and most likely pretty bruised.  He then took a look and yes I could have told him I am all bruised up over there.   He said it should go away in a couple of weeks.  Pretty simple visit - he looked over the incisions, asked me a few questions and was on his way.  I have my first fill appointment set for March 21st.  They may or may not actually do a fill, but I'm on the calendar at least.  We'll determine that day if I'm ready or not.  If so, they'll send me down to radiology and take care of the first fill there to make sure they can easily find the port.  On the bright side of this visit, they of course had me step on TANITA, their scale.  My prior visit was on 1/24 the day I started my pre-op diet and they showed me at 246.5 lbs, with a BMI of 44.4 and a Fat % of 49.1%.  Drum roll please, today - just 9 days after surgery I'm at 226.5 lbs, with a BMI of 40.8 and a Fat % of 48.4!!!  Yay!!  20 lbs gone and it's NOT coming back!! :)  I like this, cause it's pretty equal to my home scale.  My home scale, I was 242 on 1/24 and this morning  was 222, so still 20 lbs.  I like my home scale better!  ;)

Had some yummy refried beans for lunch.  Delicious!!

Mushies, How I love thee!!

Oh how I never thought I would be so happy to be able to eat mushie foods!  So I gave mashed potatoes a try last night.  I handled it okay, but they turned out too salty for my taste.  It's okay, though, I'll survive.  Ran to the store this morning to grab a few more mushie supplies.  Got me some refried beans, applesauce, cottage cheese and a couple of soups I can puree for a thicker soup than I've been eating.  Yum!!  I was going to try some scrambled eggs this morning, cause they are on my list for this stage, but I'll be honest, I was scared.  I guess I'm scared for getting something stuck.....  I know, chew chew chew.  So instead of the eggs, I had cottage cheese.  That was a yummy change from yogurt!  Maybe tomorrow I'll have the courage to have eggs, but then again, tomorrow I have to wake up and go to my doctor visit, so who knows.  Also, I made a pitcher of decaf iced tea to sip on some.  I'm getting a little bored with water water water.

Days 5 and 6

Let me start off by saying THANK YOU to all of you that have left me comments and support!  It means alot to me!
So I'm noticing a lot less pain, which is nice, but it sucks, it is still uncomfortable to sleep on my left side. I've tried a pillow which helps some.  Sleeping on my back in a no go and by morning my right side hurts so bad from sleeping on it all night, but I'm guessing this too shall pass.
Now, my big complaint, why does every other commercial on TV have to be about food?!  I'm c'mon, don't they understand I'm on liquids only right now and they are not helping me any?  I'm starting to notice more and more hunger with each day.  Good thing I get to start mushies on Thursday!!  I'm looking forward to some scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, and refried beans, just not all at once!  I see my surgeon on Friday, so that's nice I can check in with him to make sure everything is going as planned.
As for the disgusting part - reader beware - what's up with the bathroom issues?  I was worried about constipation, so day of surgery I asked my doc about miralax just in case...  No no, it's not needed, I'm so tempted to call and see if I can take some Immodium instead, but I'm afraid that will send me back to needing miralax.  Fingers crossed this passes as I eat more foods instead of all liquids
Anyway, other than that, I'm relaxing and enjoying my time off.  Seriously, watching movies and reruns on TV.  I even busted out my coloring books- yes I still color!   Now just to convince myself to go play Sims 3 on the upstairs computer or maybe something on my Wii....

Day 4 POST OP

Well, I think yesterday I over did it.  We went and took the dog to the vet, then went to get hubby's hair cut, then took the dog to the dog park, then the pet store, then home for an hour or two and then hubby and I went to the movies.  Watched Black Swan...  Didn't really like the movie and then I got terribly sick during it.  Thankfully I had my nausea meds with me and I was able to take one.  It sorta helped, but too much shaky cam on the movie was not helping at all!!  Came home about 8 and I was sound asleep!!
Today is Day 4!!  I'm going to try some yogurt today, hopefully I'll be okay with it.  Looking at my incisions, I noticed two things that struck me as a little odd - I seemed to have a reaction to the tape they used and I have a few spots that are incredibly irritated and then one of the incisions, on my left side, I'm guessing my port, is bruised!  Everything looks fairly healthy but I thought those two were kind of odd.  Anyone else have bruising or reactions to the tape??
Well, I'm going to get out here for now.  See ya later!

Days 2 and 3 POST OP

Day one post op ended with some serious nausea and mild vomiting.  This made me call the surgeon who reassured me this was not uncommon but could be something serious to watch.  He told me to only take in what liquids I could, not to overdo it, but to also stay hydrated if possible.   He then called me in a prescription to help with the nausea.  That did the trick.  Next day, day 2 I was fine.  Day 2 brought some pain still, especially in the area of the port, and plenty of gas pains.  Nothing too terrible though.  Continued with pain meds every 4 hours and took a great walk with my dog.  A little on the slow side, but I'm making great progress I think!!
Day 3 is today.  After the nausea I was really afraid to move off of clear liquids on to full liquids, but I gave it a small try last night with some skim milk.  That went down okay, so today for lunch I tried some cream soup - tomato basil.  I really only had a couple of spoons before I was full... Hubby asked what was wrong and I just explained that nothing was wrong, the soup was delicious, I was handling it okay, I was just full.  Took the dog to the dog park for our walk today,  I didn't last very long, but it was better than nothing.  I'm not having to take pain meds every 4 hours, although still taking them, and I picked up some GasX to help with all the gassy feelings I'm having, but I can't really tell if it's gas or indigestion or what...

Day one - POST OP

Had my surgery yesterday.  Everything seems to have gone well during surgery.  My check in time was at  6 am.  They took me back for pre-op at about 7:20, hubby said they started my surgery at almost 8.  I remember waking up in recovery with my anesthesiologist  and the nurses.  They were very nice.  I remember staying there for a while so they could monitor me and then they moved me up to the next level of recovery where my hubby could come in and join me. At this point I was told that as soon as I could comfortably walk up and down the halls, drink 8 ounces of liquid, have manageable pain and nausea and use the restroom I could go home.  Yay!   Things were looking up for me to get home soon.  Until I couldn't use the restroom. Seriously, I couldn't pee....  Hours went by and finally I went, a little....  The said no, you gotta give us more than that.  They brought in a bladder ultrasound and said I still had 256ml in my bladder.  great.  another hour went by before I could get any more out.  Finally they did a 2nd scan and said okay.  So at about 6pm I was able to leave.  The drive home made everything hurt!   Sleeping was fun..  I'm a side sleeper, which is good, but I can't stay on the same side all night, it makes my hip hurt. I tried sleeping on my left side and that was NOT going to happen.  My left side seems to be where everything hurts the most. I think thats where the port is.
Sitting up, sitting down, and walking too fast hurt.  I just did a 15 minute walk around the block.  Deep breaths hurt, but it's all manageable. It's like a really really tough workout!
I'm drinking lots of water and other liquids to stay hydrated.  It's a weird feeling when I drink a certain amount at one time I suddenly feel full.
So my stats were 242 when I started pre-op diet. Today I'm 230, so 12 lbs gone on pre-op!!!  Yay!!!  Let's see what happens now.

Day 6

I'm on day 6 of my pre-op diet.  So far so good.  It's not easy, but it's not as hard as I thought it would be.  2 meal replacement shakes and one meal - 3-6 ounces lean protein, 1/2 c starch, and all the NON-starchy veggies I like.  That's it all day, but it's not too bad.  The worst day was the first day, since then I've been okay, but the vanilla creme shakes suck.  I can tolerate the chocolate at least.
